Gegak-gempita seluruh Malaysia berikutan kenyataan kerajaan negeri Kedah yang bercadang menjalankan aktiviti pembalakan dikawasan tadahan hujan.Berbagai pihak menyatakan bantahan dan meminta kerajaan negeri mengkaji semula cadangan tersebut.
Semua bantahan yang dikemukakan merujuk kepada kerosakan kepada alam sekitar yang bakal dialami sekiranya aktiviti pembalakan dijalankan.
Tiada siapa pun yang menghiraukan hak kerajaan negeri Kedah untuk mendapat pampasan sebanyak RM100juta setahun yang dinafikan oleh kerajaan pusat pimpinan Umno- Bn.Tiada saranan atau desakan yang dihalakan kepada kerajaan pusat agar melunaskan pampasan kepada kerajaan negeri Kedah.
